Spotify-MCP connects Claude with Spotify, enabling control of music playback directly within conversations. Built by Varun Srivastava on top of the spotipy API, it allows users to start, pause, and skip playback, search for tracks/albums/artists/playlists, get detailed information about music content, and manage the Spotify queue. The implementation requires Spotify API credentials and premium subscription, making it ideal for users who want seamless music control without leaving their Claude interface. Despite recent API deprecations limiting some recommendation features, the project remains actively maintained with plans for playlist management and pagination support.
